ACL Surgery Required
Hi everyone,
I tore my ACL back in January and need to schedule surgery as soon as possible.
My employer’s insurance kicks in on April 1st, but the deductible is quite steep at $8,000 for the S535BCE Blue Choice Preferred Silver PPOSM 105 plan. Since I’m eligible for open enrollment, I’m exploring options on healthcare.gov and would appreciate any recommendations for insurance that would effectively cover my surgery and physical therapy. Thanks for your help!
Hi there!
I’m really sorry to hear about your ACL injury. It’s essential to ensure you have the right coverage for your surgery and recovery. Since you’ll be eligible for open enrollment, consider the following tips:
Look for Plans with Lower Deductibles: Since your current plan has a high deductible, aim to find a plan with a lower deductible or one that covers outpatient surgeries and physical therapy more comprehensively.
Check Network Providers: Make sure the plans you’re comparing include your surgeon and physical therapists in-network to avoid unexpected costs.
Review Coverage Details: Pay close attention to the specifics of the plans, especially regarding surgery and rehabilitation coverage. Look for plans with low copays for these services.
Max Out-of-Pocket: Some plans have a maximum out-of-pocket limit that can be beneficial if you anticipate needing multiple treatments.
Emergency Coverage: Ensure the plan you choose covers any potential complications that may arise post-surgery as well.
Get Multiple Quotes: Don’t hesitate to speak with insurance agents or use resources on healthcare.gov to get multiple quotes and find the best plan that meets your needs.
It might be a good idea to act quickly given your situation and the enrollment window. I wish you a smooth recovery!
