Considering Switching Carriers

Thinking About Changing Insurance Providers

I’m exploring my options for car insurance and have access to discounts through my employer for Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and Farmers. I tried searching for discussions on these companies but couldn’t find a “search within the subreddit” feature (I’m using an iPad). Could anyone share their experiences as current policyholders?

I’m particularly interested in whether any of these carriers offer features similar to State Farm’s Drive Safe and Save program, which provides discounts in exchange for monitoring your driving habits. I signed up for that program last summer and am currently receiving a 36% discount on one vehicle and 25% on the other. My driving is minimal—less than 2,000 miles a year between my two cars—thanks to working from home. Despite that, I’m still paying about $1.25 per mile for insurance. Any insights would be appreciated!

  1. It’s great that you’re considering your options and trying to find the best deal on your auto insurance. Here’s a brief overview of the three carriers you’re looking into:

    1. Liberty Mutual: They offer a program called “Liberty Mutual RightTrack,” which is similar to State Farm’s Drive Safe and Save. It tracks your driving behavior via a device or app, and you could earn discounts based on safe driving habits.

    2. Travelers: They have a program called “Intellidrive” that also monitors your driving and rewards you with discounts for safe driving. Their program includes tracking speed, acceleration, and braking patterns, so you could see some savings if you drive responsibly.

    3. Farmers: Farmers has a program called “Signal” that provides discounts based on your driving habits. It uses a mobile app to track your driving data, and discounts can be obtained for safe driving, as well as for reducing your mileage.

Since you’re driving less than 2,000 miles annually, you might qualify for additional mileage discounts with any of these providers, especially if you maintain a good driving record. It sounds like you’re already receiving substantial discounts with State Farm, so it would be helpful to compare quotes and possible discounts with these other carriers. Just make sure to check the fine print on any usage-based programs to ensure they’re a good fit for your driving style!

    Good luck with your search!
