I hate progressive.

I’m really frustrated with Progressive. I was struck by a car running a red light in Weymouth, MA. The driver was in the right turn lane but chose not to turn or stop, and I didn’t see her coming until the last moment since she was so far left. I thought the video evidence would clear me, but to my surprise, Progressive (her insurer) and Geico (my insurer) have decided I’m 40% at fault. It’s baffling how they arrived at that conclusion.

I also tried to claim lost value for my vehicle, but Progressive dismissed the data I provided from Carfax, JD Power, and Kelley Blue Book, saying it wasn’t sufficient to prove my loss in value. It’s infuriating! My low-mileage Mazda, which has had no accidents, is supposedly worth the same as a car that’s had a front-end collision. Can someone explain why we even need insurance companies? The woman who hit me admitted it was her fault. It’s just so frustrating.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your experience—it sounds incredibly frustrating. It’s especially frustrating when you have evidence and still don’t get the decision you were hoping for. Insurance companies often have their own criteria and formulas for determining fault and value, which can feel arbitrary at times. It’s hard to understand how they evaluate things, especially when the other party admits fault. Have you considered consulting with an attorney or perhaps a claims advocate to help you navigate the process? Sometimes having an expert on your side can make a big difference. I hope you can find a resolution soon!
