Lower Insurance Rate?

Looking for Lower Insurance Rates?

Hey everyone! I’m a 23-year-old male with a bit of a colorful driving history—two years ago, I had 11 points on my record due to some youthful mistakes like drag racing and stolen cars. However, I’ve turned things around and have been a responsible driver for the past two years, reducing my points to just 3-4.

Currently, I’m paying $286 a month for full coverage on my 2013 Chrysler 300 through Root. I’m curious if there are better options available or other companies I should consider. Given my past, I feel like my current rate is about where it should be, if not lower. But since I’m always looking to save on my monthly expenses, I’d love any advice or recommendations.

By the way, I’m based in Denver, CO. Thanks!

  1. Hi there! It’s great to hear you’ve made positive changes in your driving habits. Here are a few tips to help you find better insurance rates:

    1. Shop Around: Different insurance companies assess risk in various ways. Getting quotes from several providers can help you find a lower rate. Consider checking out companies like Progressive, GEICO, or State Farm, which are known for competitive rates.

    2. Consider Usage-Based Insurance: Since you’ve improved your driving, you might benefit from a telematics-based policy (like Root), where your premium is based on your actual driving behavior. Look into other similar programs that might offer better rates.

    3. Ask About Discounts: Inquire about any available discounts. Many insurers offer discounts for safe driving, bundling policies, or even for completing defensive driving courses.

    4. Increase Your Deductibles: If you’re comfortable with it, raising your deductibles can lower your monthly premium. Just ensure you have enough savings to cover the higher deductible if you need to file a claim.

    5. Review Coverage Options: Make sure you’re not paying for unnecessary coverage. Since you have an older car, consider if full coverage is necessary or if liability coverage might be adequate.

    6. Work With an Insurance Agent: An experienced agent can help you navigate options tailored to your driving history and current needs.

    7. Be Persistent: If you find better rates, don’t hesitate to contact your current insurance carrier and ask if they can match or beat the competitor’s offer. Sometimes, they’re willing to negotiate to keep you as a customer.

Since you’re in Denver, also make sure to factor in local regulations and what might impact your rates. Good luck, and I hope you find a plan that lowers your monthly expenses!
