Medpay hearing

Subject: Medpay Hearing – Seeking Advice

I have an IME assessment scheduled for tomorrow with a liability and non-functioning MD. I was involved in a whiplash accident caused by an 18-wheeler on 8/30/23.

I’ve been receiving chiropractic therapy every two weeks since the incident.

What should I expect during the assessment? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  1. It’s understandable to feel a bit anxious before an Independent Medical Examination (IME), especially after experiencing something as serious as a whiplash injury. Here are some things to expect and some tips to help you prepare:

    What to Expect:

    1. Assessment Details: The doctor will review your medical history, including records of your injury and any treatments you’ve received. Be prepared to answer questions about your symptoms, pain levels, and how your injury affects your daily life.

    2. Physical Examination: The IME will likely include a physical examination where the doctor will assess your neck and back, test your range of motion, and possibly examine your neurological function.

    3. Duration: The examination may last anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the complexity of your case.

    4. Written Report: After the IME, the doctor will write a report detailing their findings, which could be used in your liability claim.

    Tips for Your IME:

    • Be Honest: Provide accurate information about your pain and limitations. It’s important that the assessment reflects your true condition.

    • Prepare Your Information: Bring any relevant medical records, notes from your chiropractor, and a list of medications you’re currently taking. This will help provide a complete picture of your health.

    • Stay Calm and Professional: The IME can feel intimidating, but remember that the doctor is there to assess your condition, not to judge you.

    • Ask Questions: If you don’t understand something during the examination, don’t hesitate to ask for clarification.

    • Follow-Up with Your Provider: Share the results of the IME with your chiropractor and ensure they have the latest information to continue your treatment effectively.

Wishing you the best for your appointment tomorrow. Take care!
