Midly annoyed with State Farm

Feeling a bit frustrated with State Farm

I recently had a minor fender bender in a parking lot. The other driver was turning onto the main road as I was passing a car that had stopped, making me hard to see. Both cars sustained minor damage—about $1,000 each for scuffs on the left front bumpers.

We exchanged information, and it turns out he’s an attorney who works with State Farm. I had a dashcam in my car, but unfortunately, the actual collision occurred on the side, so the impact wasn’t captured.

I promptly sent my details and the video to State Farm, and I received a response within a day. They deemed the evidence inconclusive and decided that neither of us was at fault, which means we both have to cover our deductibles.

It feels like State Farm chose the option that would cost them the least, especially given how quickly they made their determination.

  1. It sounds like a frustrating experience, especially after providing evidence from your camera! It’s unfortunate when insurance companies decide that a situation is inconclusive, particularly when you feel there is a clear explanation for what happened. It can definitely seem like they’re prioritizing their bottom line over fairly assessing the situation. Have you considered appealing their decision or providing them with more information? Sometimes a little further communication can make a difference.
