Paying for repairs before claim is processed? (Progressive)

Covering repairs before the claim is settled? (Progressive)

(Apologies if the flair is not right)

I recently filed a claim with Progressive for damages to my vehicle, and they mentioned I would receive a follow-up by the end of the next business day (Monday). In the meantime, I’ve located an auto shop that can handle the repairs today. If I decide to proceed with the repair and pay upfront, will my insurance reimburse me for the expenses once the claim is processed?

  1. In general, insurance companies like Progressive can reimburse you for repairs you’ve paid for out-of-pocket, as long as the repairs are covered under your policy. However, it’s important to check a couple of things before proceeding:

    1. Contact Progressive: It’s advisable to call Progressive and inform them about your intention to get the repairs done before the claim is processed. They can give you specific guidance on whether you can be reimbursed.

    2. Documentation: Keep all receipts and any documentation related to the repairs. This will be essential for the reimbursement process when your claim is approved.

    3. Policy Guidelines: Review your policy documents to understand any terms or conditions regarding pre-claim repairs.

    4. Repair Shop Estimate: It might help to get an estimate from the shop and share that with Progressive to ensure that the repairs will be covered.

By following these steps, you’ll have a better chance of getting reimbursed for the repairs. Good luck!
