Frustration with Signal by Farmers Insurance

I feel compelled to share my experience with Signal by Farmers Insurance, as I’m sure others might be facing similar issues. I recently signed up and discovered that my driving habits are actually penalized. They’ve suggested I should take public transit, carpool, or bike more often, which is frustrating to hear. I own a car for a reason, and in my current situation, I can’t carpool, especially with winter conditions and the lack of safe public transit options near me. It’s disheartening that my safe and regular driving is negatively impacting my discount.

Additionally, I’m being penalized for driving during busy hours—what do they expect? A lot of their customers have 9-5 jobs that require commuting during those times. I’m seriously considering cancelling this coverage so I can avoid unexpected price increases just for using my car.

  1. I completely understand your frustration. It seems like the insurance model should take into account the realities of daily life, like needing to commute during peak hours for work. For many of us, driving is a necessity, not a choice, especially in less accessible areas. It’s definitely unfair to penalize safe drivers simply for living in particular circumstances or making responsible choices, like driving to avoid unsafe public transit. Perhaps reaching out to Farmers and expressing your concerns could help? They might not be aware of how their policies impact their customers. Good luck, and I hope you find a solution that works better for you!
