6 months and no communication from my adjuster

Six Months Without Communication from My Adjuster

I submitted a renters theft claim with Allstate in September 2024. Shortly after, my adjuster reached out to discuss the process and what to expect next. We’ve provided everything requested, including the police report, receipts, and numerous photos. However, a different representative contacted us afterwards, asking us to resubmit all our information at least three more times.

Now, here we are six months later, and I’ve only heard from my adjuster that one initial call. The other representative hasn’t reached out since January. Despite our efforts to get in touch with both of them for months, it wasn’t until last week that I finally received a call claiming they have everything they need and that my adjuster would call the same day. I felt a wave of relief thinking this nightmare was finally coming to an end. But, a week has passed and still no word from either of them, and I’m beyond frustrated.

I’ve been patient throughout this ordeal, but my irritation has reached its peak. Why is it taking so long? Why have I received zero updates? Why can’t I connect with my adjuster? When I attempted to speak to my adjuster’s supervisor, customer service refused to assist me. What steps can I take at this point?

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with your renters theft claim. It’s unacceptable for you to be left in the dark for such a long time, especially after providing all the necessary documentation. Here are a few steps you could take to try to resolve this situation:

    1. Document Everything: Make sure to keep records of all your communications, including dates, names, and details of each conversation. This will help if you need to escalate the issue.

    2. Contact Customer Service Again: When you call, calmly explain the situation and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. If they refuse, ask for their direct contact information or see if there are any other avenues to escalate the claim (like a dedicated claims department).

    3. Email Communication: If phone calls aren’t getting you anywhere, consider sending a formal email detailing your situation. Make sure to include your claim number, the timeline of events, and all the times you’ve tried to reach them. Enabling email communication can sometimes prompt a quicker response.

    4. Social Media: Many companies are very responsive to inquiries made through their social media platforms. Try reaching out to Allstate on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Public exposure can sometimes yield faster results.

    5. State Insurance Department: If you still aren’t getting anywhere, you can file a complaint with your state’s insurance regulatory agency. They may be able to intervene on your behalf.

    6. Seek Legal Advice: If all else fails, you might want to consider seeking advice from a lawyer who specializes in insurance claims. They can guide you on the next steps, which might include legal action if necessary.

Don’t lose hope—sometimes persistence pays off. Good luck, and I hope you hear back from them soon!
