Australian Pet Insurance Inquiry
Hi everyone! My 3-year-old cat has been prescribed Royal Canin Urinary S/O for her urinary issues. While the food is quite pricey every two weeks, it’s been really effective, so I’m hesitant to switch to a more affordable alternative. I came across Pet Insurance Australia and wanted to know if anyone has experience with them, particularly regarding coverage for prescription diets. Do they impose a cap on the amount for prescription food? I wasn’t able to find this information on their website.
If Pet Insurance Australia isn’t a good option, I’d appreciate any recommendations for other Australian pet insurance providers that cover prescription diets, routine care, consultations, and medications.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there! It’s great to hear that the Royal Canin Urinary S/O is working well for your cat. Pet insurance can definitely help with costs, especially for prescription diets.
Pet Insurance Australia (PIA) generally gets good reviews, and they do offer coverage for prescription diets, but it’s important to check the specifics of their policies to see if there are any caps or limits on that coverage. While I don’t have the exact figures, some insurers have limits on how much they reimburse for prescription food. I’d recommend reaching out to their customer service directly for clarity on that.

It might be a good idea to get quotes comparing coverage and limits across different insurers to find the best fit for your needs. Good luck, and I hope your kitty continues to feel better!
