Car Insurance autopay overcharge

Subject: Overcharge Issue with Car Insurance Autopay

I started my car insurance policy in September with a down payment of around $200, followed by monthly payments of approximately $140. However, without any prior notice, I’ve noticed that they’ve been deducting more than the agreed amount from my account. Each payment seems inconsistent and is higher than what was stated in my paperwork. While I initially received the quote over the phone, I completed all the necessary paperwork in person.

I plan to bring my receipts and discuss this issue on Monday, but I’m concerned since they have my bank routing and checking information. Should I contact my bank about this situation before heading to their office? Is there any chance of getting reimbursed since the policy has technically ended?

Lesson learned: I really should keep a closer eye on my bank statements—just as I do with my emails.

  1. It sounds frustrating to deal with those unexpected charges, especially when you were given a specific amount initially. It’s definitely a good idea to talk to your bank about those unauthorized transactions; they may be able to provide guidance or even help you dispute the charges if necessary. Documenting everything, including your receipts and any communication with the insurance company, will also be beneficial when you go in to discuss the issue. As for reimbursement, it really depends on the insurance company’s policy and your agreement with them, but it’s worth asking when you meet with them. Good luck, and hopefully, you can resolve this quickly!
