Car Trade-In Inquiry
Hi everyone, I have a quick question about trading in my car. I submitted an insurance claim three years ago, which has since been resolved. However, I never got around to fixing the minor damage—a small crack on the front driver’s side bumper from hitting a raccoon. Is it still possible to trade in my car as it is, or could my insurance company take issue with me not making the repairs?
Thanks for your help!
You should be able to trade in your car without any issues related to the past insurance claim. Since the claim is closed and you haven’t received any further communication from your insurance company, they typically won’t come after you for not getting the damage fixed, especially since it was a minor issue.
When trading in, it’s always a good idea to be transparent with the dealership about any damage, as they will likely inspect the car anyway. Depending on the extent of the damage, it may affect the trade-in value, but you should still be able to complete the trade. Just be prepared for potential negotiations based on the car’s condition. Good luck with your trade-in!
