Thinking About Changing Insurance Carriers
I’m exploring options for car insurance since my employer provides discounts with Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and Farmers. I tried searching for posts about these companies, but I couldn’t find a “search within the subreddit” feature on my iPad. If you’re currently a policyholder, I would appreciate any feedback you have!
I’m particularly interested in whether any of these carriers offer a program similar to State Farm’s Drive Safe and Save, which gives you a discount for tracking your driving habits. I enrolled in that program last summer and have received a 36% discount on one vehicle and 25% on another. I only drive around 2,000 miles a year between the two cars, thanks to working from home. However, I’m still paying about $1.25 per mile for insurance.
It’s great that you’re exploring your options for car insurance! Each of the carriers you mentioned—Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and Farmers—has unique offerings, so it’s worth considering their features in light of your driving habits and your desire for discounts.
Liberty Mutual: They have a program called RightTrack, which is similar to State Farm’s Drive Safe and Save. You can earn discounts by using a device or app that tracks your driving behavior, including speed, braking, and time of day. It’s worth checking how much you can save based on your low mileage and safe driving habits.
Travelers: They offer a program called IntelliDrive, which also tracks your driving habits to provide discounts. The program monitors similar factors, and you may find that your low mileage works in your favor here as well.
Farmers: Their program is called Signal, and it gives you a discount for tracking your driving behavior too. Like the others, it rewards safe driving and low mileage, so if you drive less than 2,000 miles a year, you could potentially benefit here too.
Since you’re already getting discounts with State Farm, it would be worthwhile to compare the savings offered by these companies against your current policy. Be sure to get quotes based on your driving habits, as that can significantly impact your premiums. Also, since you drive less, any of these programs could provide additional savings. Good luck with your search!
