Delta Dental

Delta Dental

I’ve experienced this twice now. I receive my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) in the mail and panic because it shows I owe several hundred dollars. However, when I check with my dentist’s office, they confirm that my insurance covered everything, and I only owe the amount I paid on the day of my appointment.

If the office isn’t requesting any additional payment from me, does that mean everything is okay? Is my dentist just great at negotiating with Delta Dental?

  1. It sounds like you’ve been experiencing some confusion with your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Delta Dental. If your dentist’s office confirms that your insurance has covered everything and you don’t owe anything beyond what you paid at the time of your visit, then you should be in good shape.

It’s possible that your dentist’s office has negotiated favorable rates with Delta Dental, which might explain why there’s a discrepancy in what your EOB states you owe versus what your dentist indicates. EOBs can sometimes be confusing, as they might show the total billed amount or what was processed through insurance, which doesn’t always correlate with what you actually owe.

To keep everything clear, you might consider reaching out to Delta Dental for clarification on your EOBs or discussing it with your dentist’s billing department to ensure everything aligns. This way, you can avoid any surprise bills in the future and have peace of mind regarding your coverage.
