First Acceptance Renewal

First Acceptance Renewal Confusion

I’m considered high risk and have First Acceptance because it’s within my budget. I was holding off for three more months, waiting for an accident to drop off my record so I could switch to a better insurance plan. My policy is set to renew on 3/11, and I was planning to make the payment tomorrow.

However, when I opened my envelope, I noticed the due date is listed as 2/25. Typically, they require payment by the first of the month, giving you until the 11th to pay before cancellation—this was what I was expecting. Instead, the letter states that if I don’t pay by 2/25, my policy will be canceled effective that date. Can they really do that? The notice clearly mentions that my renewal starts on 3/11, and my current card confirms my coverage goes through that date.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a frustrating situation, and it’s understandable to be concerned about the renewal process and the due date. Typically, insurance companies do have specific terms outlined in your policy regarding payments and renewal. If your notice states that the renewal starts on 3/11, then it would seem reasonable to expect that your coverage continues until then, as long as payments are made in accordance with the terms.

However, if the notice you received indicates a due date of 2/25 for payment, it’s crucial to clarify this with First Acceptance. Contact their customer service as soon as possible to discuss the discrepancy. They should be able to explain why the due date is earlier and confirm whether your coverage will remain in effect until you pay or until the renewal takes effect.

Ensure to document any communications with them, and if necessary, consider escalating the issue if you don’t receive a satisfactory explanation. It’s important to address this quickly to avoid any lapse in coverage, especially since you mentioned that you’re high risk and need to ensure you have the insurance coverage you rely on.
