Multi car insurance, three family members, only 2 as primary?

Looking for multi-car insurance advice! We have a family of three with three vehicles, but only two adults as primary drivers. Does anyone know of any highly-rated insurance companies that would allow us to list our son, who just got his license, as a secondary driver on his own car? The cost of adding him as a primary driver is really high. I’m hoping this could lower our rates. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. It’s definitely possible to have a multi-car insurance policy where only two adults are listed as primary drivers, while your son is added as a secondary driver. This setup can help lower the overall cost of your insurance. Many reputable insurance companies allow this, including:

    1. State Farm – They provide flexibility in listing primary drivers and often have discounts for multi-car policies.

    2. GEICO – Known for competitive rates, GEICO typically allows you to list multiple drivers on a policy, making it easier to designate only adults as primary.

    3. Progressive – They offer various options for multi-car insurance and may provide discounts for young drivers listed as secondary.

    4. Allstate – Allstate also allows for a family structure where only certain adults are primary, which could save you money.

    5. USAA (if eligible) – USAA often provides excellent rates for military families, allowing you to manage primary and secondary driver designations effectively.

Be sure to check each company’s policies, as the rules about driver designation can vary. It’s also a good idea to get quotes to compare rates and see which company offers the best deal for your situation. Good luck!
