Progressive scam

Frustrating Experience with Progressive Insurance
Progressive recently added my husband and me to our daughter’s boyfriend’s auto policy, resulting in an unexpected increase in his rate.

The issue? We’ve never lived with him, and he hasn’t lived with us.

Instead of doing a simple verification, despite our 18 years in the same home, Progressive is demanding that we provide extensive personal documents, such as W2s, just to disprove an assumption.

My husband reached out to our state’s Commissioner of Securities and Insurance to lodge a complaint, and it turns out they are already looking into Progressive for this “legally dubious” practice.

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a frustrating situation with Progressive. It’s concerning that they added you and your husband to your daughter’s boyfriend’s auto policy without proper verification, especially since you don’t share a residence. It’s understandable that you’d feel overwhelmed by the request for sensitive documents to prove your residency situation.

It’s good to hear that you took action by contacting your state’s Commissioner of Securities and Insurance—they may be able to help resolve this issue and hold Progressive accountable for their practices. Documenting your interactions and keeping records of everything will be beneficial as you navigate this. Hopefully, this gets sorted out quickly for you!
