Delta Dental

Delta Dental

I’ve experienced this twice now: I receive my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) in the mail, see that it states I owe several hundred dollars, and I panic. However, when I check with my dentist’s office, they confirm that my insurance has covered everything, and I’m only responsible for what I paid at the time of my visit.

If the office isn’t billing me for anything additional, does that mean I’m in the clear? Is my dentist simply skilled at negotiating with Delta Dental?

  1. It sounds like you’re experiencing some confusion between your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Delta Dental and your actual bill from your dentist. If your dentist is not requesting any additional payment beyond what you paid at the time of your visit, then you should be fine.

It’s possible that your dentist’s office has negotiated favorable terms with Delta Dental, which might explain why your out-of-pocket costs are minimal. Sometimes, EOBs can be confusing because they outline the charges and the insurance payout, but don’t always reflect what you’ll be responsible for paying.

To keep things clear, it might be helpful to periodically check in with both Delta Dental and your dentist’s office. You could also consider asking your dental office for clarification on their billing process or any discrepancies with the EOB. That way, you can feel confident that everything is correctly handled!
