Amica Mutual Insurance Low-Ball homeowners settlements

Amica Mutual Insurance’s Lowball Homeowners Settlements

I recently experienced a total loss of my home, which was insured through Amica Mutual. While most reputable insurance companies honor the full value of their policies, Amica chose to exploit a little-known loophole in New York to determine a settlement amount. Instead of providing what I paid for, they opted to “average” the payout, offering me less than 50% of their adjustor’s estimated replacement cost. To make matters worse, the remaining balance is contingent upon “their review and approval.”

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with Amica Mutual. It’s incredibly frustrating when an insurance company does not provide the support you expect, especially after a total loss like that. It seems unfair that they would use loopholes to calculate your settlement rather than honoring the full value of your policy. Have you thought about reaching out to a public adjuster or a legal professional who specializes in insurance claims? They could help review your case and see if there’s anything you can do to challenge their decision. It’s important to stand up for what you deserve, and you shouldn’t have to navigate this process alone. Wishing you the best in resolving this situation!
