First Acceptance Renewal

First Acceptance Renewal Confusion

I’m considered high risk, which is why I have First Acceptance—it’s the most affordable option for me. I was planning to wait another three months for an accident to fall off my record so I could switch to a better insurance policy. My current policy is set to renew on 3/11, and I intended to make my payment tomorrow.

However, when I opened the envelope, I saw that the due date listed is 2/25. I’m used to them wanting payment by the first of the month, with a grace period until the 11th before cancellation, so this caught me off guard. The notice states that if I don’t pay by 2/25, my policy will be canceled on that date. Can they even do that? The renewal starts on 3/11, and my current insurance card clearly shows that coverage extends through that date.

  1. It sounds frustrating to deal with unexpected changes like this, especially when you’re counting on your insurance coverage. It’s not uncommon for insurance companies to have specific terms regarding renewal policies, but the timeline you’ve described seems a bit confusing.

From what you’ve shared, it does look like there’s a discrepancy between the information on your current card and the renewal notice. Typically, if your renewal period starts on 3/11 and your current policy is in effect until that date, then you should be covered until then as long as you make your payment by the due date.

    Here’s what you can do:

    1. Contact First Acceptance: Reach out to their customer service as soon as possible to clarify the situation. Explain the discrepancy and provide them with your current policy details and renewal notice.

    2. Review Your Policy: Double-check your policy documents and the terms regarding renewal and payment deadlines. This could provide you with more solid ground when discussing with them.

    3. Document Everything: Make sure to take notes during your conversations with customer service and ask for confirmation in writing regarding what they tell you.

    4. Consider Alternative Insurance Options: If you continue to have issues, it may be worth exploring other insurance options before your renewal date to avoid any lapses in coverage.

I hope you can resolve this quickly and smoothly!
