Hit by a semi truck at 6 mo pregnant

Involved in a semi truck accident while six months pregnant

I was involved in a collision with a semi truck while I was six months pregnant (they were cited for following too closely). Even though my child was unborn at the time of the accident, can I still file a claim on their behalf? I’m planning to represent myself since I have what are considered soft tissue injuries. Would appreciate any guidance on this!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your accident, and I hope you and your baby are doing okay. In many jurisdictions, you may be able to file a claim on behalf of your unborn child, especially if you can demonstrate that the accident caused injury or harm to both you and your baby.

Since you mentioned having soft tissue injuries, it’s important to document everything related to your injuries and any medical care you received. Keep track of medical expenses, treatments, and any related costs.

Also, consider consulting with a personal injury attorney, even if you’re planning to represent yourself. They can offer valuable advice tailored to your specific situation and help you understand the nuances of filing a claim for an unborn child.

Make sure you also check the laws in your state regarding personal injury claims and any specific statutes related to injuries to unborn children. Best of luck, and take care of yourself and your baby!
