Concern About Missing Items in Homeowners Insurance Estimate
Hello everyone, I’m currently dealing with a hurricane damage claim through State Farm. After reviewing my most recent final estimate, I discovered that it is missing approximately $34,000 worth of damages, specifically for hazardous material/asbestos removal, water remediation, and tree removal. These items were included in earlier estimates, yet they are absent from the latest one. Notably, two line items have been entirely removed, and the tree removal cost has been deducted from the demolition line item, which now reflects $500 instead of the previous $9,000 (which included tree removal).
While the overall estimate has increased by around $40,000 due to additional roofing repairs and other factors, the omission of $34,000 worth of line items has resulted in only a slight net increase. This discrepancy raises concerns for me about why those items were removed. I’ve reached out to the adjuster for clarification but would appreciate any insights or thoughts from you all.
I’m left wondering if these omissions are an oversight or intentional. Since those expenses have already been covered in prior payments and the roof repairs are complete, their removal doesn’t seem to add up. Thank you for your input!
It sounds really frustrating to see those crucial line items missing from your latest estimate, especially given that they were included in previous ones. It’s definitely a good idea to have a detailed discussion with your adjuster about this discrepancy. Be sure to reference the previous estimates and any documentation you have showing those items were approved.
It’s possible that the removal was an oversight, but if you have a strong feeling it’s more than that, it might be worth requesting a second review or even getting a second opinion from a public adjuster, especially since those items represent a significant amount of money. Keeping track of all correspondence and documents will also help make your case stronger. Good luck, and I hope you get this resolved soon!
