I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and, prior to my appointment, I reached out to my insurance company to verify if my dentist was in-network. The representative assured me that the dentist was in-network, so I went ahead with the procedure. However, when I checked my claim today, I found that the dentist was listed as out-of-network. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Insurance company told me a dentist was in-network then denied claim

I’m really sorry to hear about your experience! It can be incredibly frustrating when there’s a discrepancy between what the insurance company tells you and what they end up processing. Unfortunately, situations like this aren’t uncommon. Sometimes, the insurance company may have outdated information or there might be a clerical error.
I would recommend contacting your insurance company again to clarify the situation. Make sure to have the name of the representative who confirmed the in-network status, and any reference numbers related to your call. Additionally, you may want to ask your dentist’s office if they can assist in appealing the claim on your behalf. Documentation can be key in these cases, so keep all records of your communications. Good luck, and I hope you get this sorted out soon!
