Insurer Shares List of Defendants with Victim
I recently submitted an insurance claim against a nonprofit after their IT vendor embezzled my salary. The insurer replied, stating that they cannot disclose the insurance information of their client. However, they also included in their response the names of the two employees they are defending, along with the two professional liability insurance companies and two corporate fraud attorneys, all in the cc line.
Is this standard procedure, or did the insurer accidentally include the thief and his team in the response?
It’s quite unusual for an insurer to include so many relevant parties in a reply to a claim, especially when it involves sensitive information concerning a victim and their case. Typically, insurers maintain confidentiality regarding their client’s information, which is why they might have denied providing you with specific details about the insurance policy.
Including the employees being defended, the professional liability insurance companies, and the fraud attorneys in the cc line raises questions about their handling of your claim. It’s possible that this was an oversight, and they might have meant to bcc the individuals involved to protect your privacy.
You might want to reach out to them for clarification on their protocol and express any concerns you have regarding the inclusion of those parties in the correspondence. Keeping communication open can help you understand the situation better and ensure that your rights are protected.
