NYS – looking to switch insurance carriers

NY Residents – Seeking New Insurance Options

I currently have Geico, but my premium just increased by another $150 for the next six months. They attribute this hike to New York State regulations, but I’ve noticed this trend since I joined in April ’21.

I’m interested in exploring other full coverage insurance options for my car, but I’m not sure which companies are genuinely affordable these days.

If you’re in NY and have switched from Geico, which provider did you choose? Did you find similar coverage for a better price?

  1. It’s definitely frustrating to see your premiums keep rising, especially when you’re trying to stay within budget. Shopping around for insurance is a smart move, and New York can have quite a range of options.

Many people have had success switching to companies like State Farm, Progressive, or Allstate for full coverage. Some have also found good rates with local mutual insurance companies or even comparison platforms like Gabi or The Zebra to help find the best deal.

When you’re comparing options, make sure to evaluate not just the price but also the coverage details, deductibles, and customer service ratings. Sometimes a slightly higher premium can save you in the long run if you have better coverage or a more reliable claims process.

It might also be worth reaching out to an independent insurance agent who can provide you with multiple quotes from different companies and help you find a balance between affordability and quality coverage. Good luck!
