I recently had a minor accident where I rear-ended someone while driving a work vehicle owned and insured by my employer. I received two citations as a result. I’m wondering if these citations are dismissed by a judge and don’t go on my record, will my insurance still increase? I assume it will, but I’m curious because I’m not filing a claim through my personal policy. Thank you for your insights!
Rear ended someone

It’s understandable to be concerned about the implications of the accident, especially when it involves a work vehicle. Generally, if you were driving a vehicle that is owned and insured by your employer, their insurance policy will typically cover the damages resulting from the accident.
As for the citations, if they are waived by a judge and do not appear on your record, that could potentially affect the way your driving record is perceived by insurance companies. However, since the accident involved a work vehicle, your personal insurance may not be impacted directly since you’re not filing a claim through it.
That said, some insurance companies might still consider the accident and citations when evaluating risk, which can indirectly influence your premiums. Additionally, if your employer’s insurance does need to cover any claims, it might affect their rates, which can sometimes factor back into your own insurance situation down the line.
It would be a good idea to talk to your employer’s insurance agent for specific details regarding how this incident might affect future insurance rates, both for the employer and for you personally.
