Which insurance?

Which insurance should I contact?

I was involved in a car accident on Saturday, and the other driver was determined to be at fault. My insurance, Progressive, informed me that they can’t take any action right now unless it turns out she’s uninsured. The other driver is covered by Direct, and she has already initiated a claim with them. I reached out today to provide them with my details as well.

However, she was driving for Uber Eats at the time of the accident. I understand that Uber has different insurance policies depending on whether a driver is actively picking up or delivering food.

My question is, should I also reach out to Uber Eats to file a claim? I’m really hoping to get the front-end damage on my 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche fixed instead of having it totaled. I rely on my truck, and I’m concerned that if it’s declared a total loss, I won’t receive enough to purchase a new one.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your accident! It sounds like a frustrating situation. Since the other driver was at fault, their insurance should ideally cover your damages. However, given that the driver was working for Uber Eats at the time, it might be a good idea to contact Uber’s insurance as well. When drivers are on the clock, Uber typically provides additional coverage, which may help in your situation.

    Here’s what you can do:
    1. Contact the other driver’s insurance to ensure they have all the necessary information and that you’ve filed your claim properly.
    2. Reach out to Uber Eats to inform them about the accident and see if they can provide any assistance or additional coverage regarding the driver’s work status at the time of the accident. They can guide you on how to file a claim on their side.
    3. Document everything—keep a record of all conversations, claims filed, and any assessments of your vehicle’s damage.

It’s definitely best to keep all your options open, especially if you want to avoid a total loss on your truck. Good luck, and I hope your vehicle gets fixed soon!
