Which insurance?

Which insurance should I contact?

I was involved in a car accident on Saturday, and the other driver was at fault. My insurance, Progressive, informed me that they can’t do anything right now unless it’s confirmed that she doesn’t have coverage. Her insurer, Direct, is already processing a claim. I called them today and provided my information as well.

However, the other driver was working for Uber Eats at the time of the accident. I know Uber has specific insurance coverage based on whether she was actively picking up or delivering food.

My question is, should I reach out to Uber Eats to file a claim as well? I’m really hoping to get the damage to my 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche repaired instead of having it totaled. I rely on this truck, and I doubt I’d receive enough compensation to buy a new one if it ends up being deemed a total loss.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your accident; that sounds really frustrating. Since the other driver was at fault and was working for Uber Eats at the time, it’s a good idea to contact Uber’s insurance department. When a driver is on the clock for Uber Eats, they typically have additional liability coverage that might come into play.

Here are a few steps you can take:

    1. Contact Uber Eats: Reach out to their support or insurance department to inform them about the accident and provide your details. They may have coverage options that could help with your claim.

    2. Document Everything: Keep track of all communications, claims filed, and any damage reports. This will be useful for any discussions with insurance.

    3. Stay in Touch with Both Insurance Companies: Keep your Progressive and the other driver’s insurance in the loop about your situation to ensure that you’re not missing any steps in the claims process.

    4. Consider Getting an Estimate: If you haven’t already, get an estimate for the repairs to your truck. This can help you and your insurance advocate for a non-totaled status for your vehicle.

    5. Consult a Professional: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you might want to consider reaching out to a claims specialist or a legal advisor who can help navigate the complexities of insurance and ensure you’re getting the best outcome.

I hope your truck can be repaired easily and you get the resolution you need!
