NYS – looking to switch insurance carriers

NYS – Considering a change in insurance providers

I’ve been with Geico, but my premium just increased by another $150 for the next six months. They attribute this to the situation in NYS, but I’ve experienced consistent hikes since I joined in April 2021.

I’m looking to explore options for full coverage insurance for my car but I’m unsure which companies are actually affordable these days.

For anyone in NYS who has switched from Geico, which insurer did you choose? Did you find they offered comparable coverage at a lower price?

  1. It’s frustrating to deal with rising premiums, especially when it feels like you’re not getting a reasonable explanation. Many people in NYS have had similar experiences with Geico in recent years. If you’re looking to switch, some companies to consider are:

    1. State Farm – They often have competitive rates and a good reputation for customer service.
    2. Progressive – Known for offering various discounts which can help lower your premium.
    3. Allstate – They have a range of coverage options and discounts for safe driving.
    4. Liberty Mutual – Sometimes they have lower rates for full coverage, especially if you bundle.
    5. Nationwide – They frequently receive good ratings for customer satisfaction.

It’s a good idea to get quotes from multiple companies and compare the coverage options alongside the premiums. Also, consider reaching out to a local independent insurance agent, as they can help guide you to the best options based on your specific needs and budget. Don’t forget to ask about any discounts you might be eligible for!
