Need some advice!
I’m currently in school and they require a few vaccinations. I don’t have insurance right now and I’m considering Covered California. I came across the Kaiser Bronze 60 HMO plan—would that cover the vaccines I need? If not, what would be the best way to move forward? Thankfully, I’m generally healthy. (Knock on wood!) Thanks for your help!
Hi there!
It sounds like you’re in a bit of a tricky situation. If you’re looking at Covered California, the Kaiser Bronze 60 HMO plan typically does cover essential health benefits, which usually includes vaccines. However, specifics can vary, so it’s always a good idea to double-check the plan details to see what vaccines are included and if there are any out-of-pocket costs.
If it turns out that the Kaiser plan doesn’t meet your needs or if you’re looking for alternatives, here are a few steps you might consider:
Check for free or low-cost clinics: Some community health clinics or local health departments offer vaccines at low or no cost, even if you don’t have insurance.
Research other plans: If you would like to explore other insurance options, consider comparing different plans available in Covered California to see which ones offer better coverage for what you need.
Contact the school: Your school might have specific resources or agreements with local clinics for students who need vaccines. They may also provide information on how to get your required vaccinations without insurance.
Look into Medi-Cal: Depending on your income level, you may qualify for Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program, which provides coverage including vaccines.
Best of luck, and don’t hesitate to reach out for more help if needed!
