ACL Surgery Needed

ACL Surgery Required

Hey everyone,

I tore my ACL back in January and need to get surgery as soon as possible.

My job’s insurance starts on April 1st, but the deductible is pretty steep at $8,000 (S535BCE Blue Choice Preferred Silver PPOSM 105). Since I’m eligible for open enrollment, I’m exploring options on healthcare.gov and would love to hear your recommendations for the best insurance to help cover my surgery and physical therapy. Thanks so much in advance!

  1. Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear about your ACL injury; that can be tough. Since your job’s insurance starts on April 1st, you might want to consider temporary options for coverage until then, especially if you’re looking at getting the surgery done soon.

For healthcare.gov, you can explore plans that offer lower deductibles and better coverage for surgeries and rehabilitation. Look for plans that specifically cover orthopedic surgery and physical therapy, as these will likely help reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Pay attention to the copays and coinsurance for both surgical and PT services, as these can vary widely between plans.

It might also be worth reaching out to your healthcare provider to see if they have recommendations for insurance plans they accept. Sometimes, they can help you navigate your options based on what you need for your surgery and recovery.

Good luck, and I hope you get the treatment you need soon!
