Are there any adjusters in the group?
I was rear-ended by three cars and now I’m dealing with some serious injuries. I have three bulging discs in my neck and spinal stenosis, along with a fractured vertebra at T-10 and two more bulging discs in my lower back causing additional spinal stenosis. I’m seeing a chiropractor twice a week and have recently received injections in my neck and lumbar region—one just this Thursday. My doctor mentioned that if I don’t see improvement, they may refer me for a surgery consultation.
I’m planning to contact my attorney on Monday, but I’m curious if anyone has experience with having surgery recommended this quickly and how that might impact my case financially. Thank you!
I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds incredibly challenging, both physically and emotionally. While I’m not an adjuster or legal expert, I can share some general insights.
In cases where injuries are as serious as yours, it’s not uncommon for doctors to recommend surgery if other treatments haven’t been effective. The need for surgery can definitely impact your case, as it may indicate the severity and long-term implications of your injuries. Typically, if surgery is needed, this could lead to a higher settlement, since it indicates significant medical treatment and potential long-term effects on your life and ability to work.
Your attorney will be key in navigating your case. They can help assess how your injuries and the potential for surgery will affect your claim and negotiate on your behalf. It’s great that you’re reaching out to them; they’ll provide the specific guidance you need regarding the legal and monetary aspects of your situation.
Make sure to keep thorough records of all medical treatments, expenses, and how your injuries affect your daily life. This documentation can support your case as well. Wishing you the best with your recovery and legal proceedings!
