Complicated car insurance

Complicated Car Insurance Situation
My car is registered under my mother’s name because it was more affordable when I originally got it, as I was younger at the time. My father handles the car insurance (it’s a long story) and although the car is covered under his policy, I’m not listed as a driver. Could this create problems for me if I were to be involved in an accident?

  1. Yes, this situation could potentially cause issues if you were to get into an accident. Typically, car insurance needs to have all regular drivers listed on the policy to ensure coverage.

Since the insurance is in your father’s name and you aren’t listed as a driver, the insurance company might refuse to cover damages if you’re involved in an accident while driving the car. This could leave you personally liable for any damages, injuries, or costs resulting from the accident.

It could be a good idea to discuss this situation with your parents and see if they can add you to the insurance policy. This way, you can ensure you’re properly covered and avoid any complications in the event of an accident. It’s always better to clarify these things beforehand to prevent issues later.
