Florida Fr44 for motorcycle

Mandatory FR44 for Motorcycle in Florida

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some guidance regarding insurance requirements in Florida. I currently have a named non-owner FR44 policy, but I also own a motorcycle that needs to be insured. I’m unclear if I need to have an FR44 for both my motorcycle and the non-owner policy, especially since the bike is registered in my name and the guideline states that an FR44 is needed for all registered vehicles. Does anyone have insights on this? Thank you!

  1. Hello! In Florida, if you are required to carry an FR44 due to a DUI or other serious offense, you generally need to maintain that FR44 for all vehicles you own or register, including motorcycles. Since your motorcycle is registered in your name, it typically would need to have the FR44 coverage as well.

However, since you currently have a non-owner FR44, it might not automatically cover vehicles that you own. It’s best to contact your insurance provider directly to clarify your situation and make sure you meet all legal requirements. Additionally, you could also reach out to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for specific guidance on your situation. Stay safe out there!
