Frustrated with GAP!
My Nissan was totaled on November 8, 2024. My personal insurance covered their portion in December 2024, but I’m still left with a $2,300 loan balance with Santander. I purchased GAP coverage through SafeGuard, but now that it’s March 2025, my claim is still marked as INAUDIT. I submitted all the required documents on time.
As a result, my loan is now past due, and it’s negatively impacting my credit. I can’t buy a new vehicle until this is resolved, yet neither Santander nor SafeGuard will provide any answers regarding the delay.
I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with your GAP insurance claim. It’s incredibly frustrating when these issues drag on, especially when they’re affecting your credit and ability to get a new vehicle. Have you tried reaching out to a supervisor or higher-level customer service representative at both Santander and SafeGuard? Sometimes escalating the issue can lead to a quicker resolution. Additionally, consider documenting all your communications—including dates, times, and the names of whom you spoke to—so you have a clear record if you need to take further action.
You might also want to check if there are any consumer protection agencies or state insurance regulators that you can contact for assistance. They may be able to help facilitate communication and push for a resolution. Hang in there, and I hope you get this sorted out soon!
