Hard ford just jacked my rates up nearly 50 percent. No reason.

I’m extremely frustrated with Hartford after they increased my insurance rates by nearly 50% for no apparent reason. I have two vans—one for personal use and one for work—and I’ve maintained a perfect driving record with no tickets or accidents for over 15 years. I even notified them that my work vehicle was going to be used part-time.

Last year, my premium was around $9,600 for both vans and $100K in equipment coverage. This year, for the same two vans and just $70K in equipment coverage, the premium has skyrocketed to over $14,500.

To make matters worse, they billed me a large lump sum three days early, despite me reaching out to them to say I wouldn’t agree to renew until I had a chance to review any rate changes. This unexpected charge put my account in the red.

I can no longer support Hartford, and I urge others to consider adding them to their list of companies to avoid. This kind of price gouging is unacceptable and downright shameful.

In short, I’m done with Hartford.

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a really frustrating situation with your insurance provider. A nearly 50% increase without a clear explanation, especially after having a perfect driving record, is definitely not something you’d expect. It’s particularly concerning that they billed you early despite your request to hold off on renewal until you could review the changes.

Many people face similar issues with insurance companies, and it can feel especially unfair when it seems like loyalty and a good driving history aren’t being rewarded. It’s understandable that you’d want to take your business elsewhere. I hope you find a provider that values your commitment and treats you fairly.

Sharing your experience can help others in the community make informed choices, so stay strong through this process!
