The other driver caused the accident but isn’t responding to their insurance company’s calls. I’ve shared photos of the vehicles and the accident scene. Can the other insurer still refuse coverage?
Update: I initially added this as a comment, but I’m posting it here for those interested. Today, I spoke with my insurance company and informed them that the other insurer still couldn’t make contact. I asked if the other driver had reached out to file a claim against me, and it turns out they did! They provided a recorded statement to my insurance company. However, my insurer can’t share the recording with the other insurer, and according to my adjuster, they probably wouldn’t accept it anyway. I’m not sure why that is, but it definitely feels like the other driver is avoiding their insurer.
It sounds like a frustrating situation! Unfortunately, it is possible for the other insurance company to deny coverage despite the circumstances. The insurance process can be complex, and companies often have specific protocols that must be followed, including speaking with the involved parties. If the other driver is not responding or cooperating, it can complicate matters.
Since you’ve already provided evidence like pictures and have communicated with your insurer, that’s a good step. Your insurance company will often advocate for you and handle the communication with the other insurer on your behalf. However, if the other driver is not cooperating, it may slow down the claims process or create challenges in resolving liability.
Make sure to stay in touch with your insurance adjuster; they can provide guidance and updates on the situation. If the other party continues to be unresponsive, there may be options to pursue further action, but it’s best to discuss those with your insurance company. Hang in there!
