Progressive denying me insurance?

Progressive Refuses Insurance Coverage

I received a notice from Progressive stating, “We regret to inform you that your application has been declined due to your Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and/or your Claims Loss Underwriting Exchange (C.L.U.E.) report. This indicates that you or others who may be covered under the policy have had multiple accidents leading to PIP claims. As a result, you are not eligible for coverage with the Progressive Group.”

For context, I filed just one injury claim after being rear-ended by an uninsured driver eight years ago.

  1. It sounds frustrating to be denied coverage, especially when you feel your record doesn’t warrant it. It’s important to clarify the details with Progressive, as their decision might be influenced by factors beyond just your personal claim history.

Here are a few steps you can consider:

    1. Request Clarification: Contact Progressive directly and ask for a detailed explanation regarding your MVR and C.L.U.E. reports. Sometimes inaccuracies can occur, and obtaining this information can help clarify the situation.

    2. Review Your Reports: Check your own MVR and C.L.U.E reports to ensure they are accurate. If you find any discrepancies, gather any corresponding documentation to dispute the inaccuracies.

    3. Ask About Reconsideration: Inquire if there is a chance for reconsideration or if there are options to appeal their decision based on your specific circumstances.

    4. Consider Other Insurers: If Progressive is unable to provide coverage, it may be a good idea to shop around and see if other insurance companies have different underwriting criteria that might work in your favor.

    5. Consult an Insurance Agent: Talking with an insurance agent can provide guidance on navigating this situation and help you find better options.

Stay persistent and proactive, and hopefully, you’ll be able to find a solution.
