What to do?

What should I do?

I was in a T-bone collision last week, and my car got scratched. The other party’s insurance is with the same company as mine. If I go through her insurance for the repairs, will I still have to pay my deductible? This is my first time dealing with this situation, so I’m unsure about the process. Any advice would be appreciated!

  1. It can be confusing the first time you deal with an insurance claim! Since both you and the other party are with the same insurance company, you may be able to handle the repair without having to pay your deductible.

Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Contact Your Insurance Company: Reach out to your insurance representative and explain the situation. They can clarify how the process will work since you’re both with the same company.

    2. Ask About Deductibles: Specifically ask if you would be responsible for your deductible if the repairs go through the other party’s insurance. Policies can vary, so it’s important to get a clear answer.

    3. Documentation: Make sure to document the damage and keep any communications you have with your insurance company and the other party’s insurance.

    4. Consider Getting Estimates: It might be helpful to get repair estimates from a couple of repair shops just to have an idea of what the costs will be.

    5. Follow Their Instructions: Your insurance company will guide you on the next steps, whether it means going through the other party’s insurance or handling it through your own policy.

Remember, since this is your first time, it’s perfectly okay to ask questions and get clarification from your insurance company!
