Another complaint about Onlia

Is anyone else tired of the constant Onlia complaints? This company should really consider losing their brokerage license; it’s a total scam.

My wife’s policy was set to renew in November, but after they became a brokerage, they required new photos of the car and a no-loss letter. After five months of confusion—during which we received no documentation or proof of insurance and didn’t drive the car—they suddenly decided that the pictures weren’t needed anymore. Now, they’re trying to hit us with a $1,200 backpayment bill because they claim we’ve been insured since November and want us to pay for that time. Their response? They can’t help us because we have no proof of other insurance during that period. Of course we don’t have proof; we had no idea what was going on since they left us in limbo! This company is clearly going downhill and is now trying to recoup losses by charging us, conveniently right before tax season. Avoid this place at all costs!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Onlia. It sounds incredibly stressful to suddenly face unexpected charges and confusion regarding your insurance status, especially after being in limbo for so long. It’s understandable that you feel scammed, and it’s frustrating when companies don’t communicate effectively or seem to change policies without clear notice. I hope you can resolve this issue soon, whether through direct discussions with them or potentially seeking help from a regulatory body. Sharing your experience here may also help others avoid similar situations. Hang in there!
