Reimbursement and claim settlement

Reimbursement and Claim Settlement Inquiry

My dad was hospitalized four days ago for a transplant. Our insurance will be renewed in two days, and we have a remaining balance of 3 lakh in this year’s policy. The total cost of the transplant is 7 lakh.

I’m wondering if I can claim the remaining 4 lakh under the upcoming policy. He is expected to be hospitalized for another six days.

Thank you for your assistance!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your dad’s hospitalisation. In your situation, the ability to claim expenses from two different policies (the current one and the upcoming one) generally depends on the terms and conditions of your insurance provider.

    1. Current Policy Limit: Since your current policy has a balance of ₹3 lakh, you can claim that amount immediately for the transplant expenses incurred during this policy period.

    2. New Policy: For the new policy, most insurance companies have a waiting period for pre-existing conditions or ongoing treatments. If your father’s transplant is considered a pre-existing condition (if he was diagnosed before the start of the new policy), then you may not be able to claim the remaining ₹4 lakh under the new policy.

    3. Consult with Insurer: It is best to contact your insurance provider directly to clarify their policies regarding claim settlements and to confirm if there are any exclusions that apply to your case.

Make sure to keep all your medical bills and documentation ready, as these will be necessary for any claims you intend to submit. Wishing your dad a smooth recovery!
