Looking for Third-Party Liability (SLI) Insurance for RV Rental in the U.S. as a Non-Resident
Hello everyone,
I’m a non-U.S. resident planning to rent an RV in the U.S. for two weeks. The rental company provides Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) but unfortunately does not include Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI). This means I’m left with just the state’s minimum liability coverage, which I’m concerned may expose me to considerable financial risk in the event of a serious accident.
I’m on the lookout for an insurance provider that offers SLI or a similar third-party liability policy to enhance my coverage. As I’m not a U.S. citizen and lack a U.S. address, it seems like my options are rather limited.
Has anyone faced this situation before, or can you recommend any insurance companies that cater to international drivers renting vehicles in the U.S.? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Hi there!
I totally understand your concerns about getting the right coverage while renting an RV in the U.S. as a non-resident. It’s important to have adequate liability insurance to protect yourself in case of an accident.
Here are a few options you might consider:
Travel Insurance: Some travel insurance companies offer liability coverage that includes rental vehicles. Look for policies specifically covering RV rentals and ensure they provide the required supplement.
Specialized Insurers: Some companies specialize in providing insurance for international renters. Consider checking out providers like Insure My Rental Car or Rental Car Insurance.com. They often have options that may suit your needs.
Credit Card Benefits: If you have a credit card that offers rental car insurance, check if it covers RV rentals and includes liability coverage. Make sure to read the terms, as they can vary significantly.
Local Insurance Agents: If you can, reach out to a local insurance broker in the area where you’ll rent the RV. They may have access to specific policies that cater to tourists or international renters.
Directly Contact Insurers: Some larger insurance companies, like Allianz or Geico, may have policies for non-residents. It’s worth reaching out to them directly to explain your situation.
Make sure to read the terms and conditions carefully and verify that any supplemental coverage is applicable to RVs. I hope you find the coverage you need to enjoy your trip without worry!
Safe travels!
