Travel Insurance AD&D Beneficiary Update
Edit: I overlooked that the beneficiary form is part of the policy information. This was my mistake.
I recently bought travel insurance for an upcoming trip, which includes AD&D coverage payable to named beneficiaries. However, I noticed there’s no section to designate beneficiaries directly in the policy. Should I specify primary and secondary beneficiaries in a separate document, like a will, to ensure that the payout goes to the right people if something were to happen to all of us covered (I purchased the insurance for my family of three)?
It’s great that you found the beneficiary form in your policy information! It’s important to fill that out so your named beneficiaries can receive the AD&D benefits in the event of a tragedy. Typically, insurance policies will specify how to designate beneficiaries, and it’s important to follow those guidelines to ensure that everything is in order.
If the policy offers a specific form for naming beneficiaries, it’s best to use that instead of a separate document like a will, as the insurance company may prefer or require their form for clarity and legal reasons. If you have any further questions or concerns, I would recommend reaching out to your insurance provider directly for clarification. Safe travels on your upcoming trip!
