Got rear-ended, now my car won’t start after repairs & insurance won’t take responsibility

Navigating the Aftermath of an Accident: When Repairs Go Awry

Recently, my experience with an auto accident has taken an unexpected turn, and I wanted to share this journey in hopes of gathering insights from others who might have faced a similar predicament.

A few weeks ago, I was rear-ended by another vehicle. Following the incident, I promptly filed a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance company, and they acknowledged their liability. They directed my car to one of their authorized repair facilities to address the damage, which predominantly involved the rear bumper and backup camera.

Initially, the repair shop faced delays, continually pushing back the date I could pick up my vehicle. Eventually, I received a call indicating the repairs were complete. However, when I arrived to retrieve my car, I was met with an unexpected surprise: the shop informed me that my vehicle would no longer start. They attributed this new issue to an electrical wiring problem, asserting that it wasn’t their fault and that I would need to handle the towing and subsequent repairs out of my own pocket.

It’s worth noting that prior to the accident, my car was in optimal working condition. I had driven it to the repair facility without any difficulties, and the shop had conducted multiple diagnostic checks, revealing no issues aside from the malfunctioning backup camera—the only repair I had requested.

In my attempt to resolve the matter, I reached out to the insurance company representing the at-fault driver. To my dismay, they informed me that they were no longer responsible for the situation and that I would need to navigate this unexpected hurdle independently. Now, I find myself facing a non-operational vehicle, a surprise electrical conundrum, and an unexpected towing bill—all stemming from someone else’s mistake.

I’m reaching out to the community for guidance. What options do I have in this situation? Has anyone here dealt with a similar circumstance where post-repair complications arose after an accident? Your insights and advice would be greatly appreciated, as I feel overwhelmed and somewhat helpless in the face of this dilemma.
