Got rear-ended, now my car won’t start after repairs & insurance won’t take responsibility

Navigating the Aftermath of a Car Accident: When Repairs Don’t Go as Planned

A few weeks ago, I found myself in an unfortunate situation when I was rear-ended by another driver. After promptly filing a claim, the other driver’s insurance accepted liability and arranged for my car to be repaired at one of their authorized service centers. The damage was relatively minor, affecting mainly the rear bumper and backup camera.

Initially, communication with the repair shop was frustrating, as they consistently postponed the pickup date. Eventually, I received the call I had been waiting for: my car was ready to be collected. However, when I arrived at the shop, I was met with an unexpected issue—my vehicle wouldn’t start. The technicians explained that there was now a problem with the electrical wiring. To my astonishment, they insisted this new problem was unrelated to their repairs, leaving me responsible for towing the car and covering the repair costs out of my own pocket.

Prior to the accident, my car had been functioning flawlessly. I had personally driven it to the repair shop without encountering any issues, and the shop had conducted multiple diagnostic assessments confirming it was in good condition, save for the broken backup camera that was supposed to be fixed. Frustrated, I reached out to the at-fault driver’s insurance company for assistance. They, however, dismissed my concerns, making it clear that they would not take responsibility for my vehicle’s current state. Now, I’m faced with a car that won’t start, an unforeseen electrical problem, and a towing fee that I hadn’t anticipated.

In light of these challenges, I find myself seeking guidance. Have any of you faced a similar predicament? What steps can I take to address this situation? I feel as though I’m unfairly burdened with the consequences of someone else’s negligence and would appreciate any advice or insights you might offer.
