Insurance wants proof of license at 18 but I don’t have that card anymore.

Understanding Insurance Requirements for Driver’s License History

Navigating Insurance Policies and License Documentation

Recently, I relocated to a new state and set up a fresh insurance plan with my partner. During the process, the insurance agent requested my driver’s license history, specifically the original license issued when I first started driving at age 18. Unfortunately, I no longer possess that initial license card.

The Insurance Dilemma

Since I’ve recently acquired a new license for my current state, the agents informed me that my premiums would be quite high because they consider my driving history to be limited. They explained that having my previous out-of-state license would help them adjust my rates more accurately.

In an effort to assist, I located my current license, which has been active for about a year, and provided that to the insurer. However, they now require my very first license for the purpose of reducing my premium costs. The challenge is, I’ve been driving since I was 18, which means I don’t have access to that initial license anymore.

Seeking Guidance

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or can offer advice on how to obtain a record of my original driver’s license? Any assistance or resources to help me access this information would be greatly appreciated, as I’m eager to lower my insurance premiums.

Thank you for your time and insights.
