EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN COVERAGE- HVAC replacement

EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN COVERAGE – HVAC Replacement Help Needed

I’m in the process of getting my insurance to cover the replacement of my air conditioning unit. Unfortunately, the condenser and evaporator coil are leaking, and the compressor is failing as well. Has anyone gone through something similar before? Any advice or recommendations? The unit is a Goodman brand, about 7 years old, and it only cools half of my house. (You can find the details of my policy in my HVAC post on my profile.) Thank you!

  1. It sounds frustrating to deal with HVAC issues, especially when it involves significant costs like replacement. Equipment breakdown coverage can sometimes help with these situations, but the extent of coverage often depends on your specific policy and the details of the situation.

Here are a few steps you might consider:

    1. Review Your Policy: Look closely at the language in your equipment breakdown coverage. It should specify what types of repairs or replacements are covered, particularly regarding age limits or specific breakdowns.

    2. Document Everything: Take detailed notes and photos of the issues with your AC unit, including any maintenance you’ve had done. This might help support your claim.

    3. Get a Professional Assessment: Have a licensed HVAC technician provide a written evaluation of the unit’s condition. This could be helpful in your discussions with the insurance company.

    4. Contact Your Insurance: Reach out to your insurance provider to discuss your situation and ask about the claims process. Be prepared to advocate for yourself and explain why you believe this should be covered.

    5. Get Multiple Quotes: If your insurance does cover it, consider getting quotes from a few HVAC companies for the replacement. This can give you a better understanding of the costs involved.

    6. Ask for Recommendations: If you’ve had any luck with claims in the past, or if anyone in your network has had a similar experience, it might be helpful to get their insights or recommendations for a good HVAC company.

    7. Patience: The claims process can sometimes take longer than expected, so keep communication lines open with your insurer.

I hope your insurance is able to assist you with this! Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
