Minor Accident Possible Trouble

Minor Accident Concerns

I recently had a minor accident where the other person’s bumper popped out of place—likely a $100 fix and perhaps a repaint. I didn’t provide my insurance to the police at the scene, but I did give them my name and number. I haven’t heard back from them. My mom is planning to add me to her insurance, and I’m wondering if they will notify her about this accident. I also had a more serious accident afterward, and the adjuster didn’t mention it either. I’d appreciate any advice ASAP, as she’s asking for my driver’s license number. Thanks!

  1. It sounds like you’re feeling a bit anxious about the situation, and that’s understandable. Since you were involved in a minor accident and didn’t file an insurance claim at the time, it’s possible that your mom’s insurance may not be notified of the incident. Generally, if no formal claim is made and the other party hasn’t reported it, there may be no record. However, it doesn’t hurt to be transparent with your mom about what happened, especially since you’re being added to her insurance.

Regarding the driver’s license number, she’ll need that for the policy, and it’s standard procedure to provide it. If you’re worried about the accident affecting her policy, it might be good to have a conversation with her about it. Sharing all the details now can help alleviate future concerns.

Lastly, keep in mind that insurance policies and state regulations can vary, so it might be helpful to double-check with the insurance provider for more specific guidance on your situation. Good luck!
