Almost got into 4 accidents in 1 week since I got the progressive snap shot

Title: The Challenges of Using Progressive Snapshot: A Week of Unexpected Driving Experiences

Driving for over a decade with an impeccable safety record, I’ve always considered myself a responsible and cautious motorist. My vehicle has never sustained a dent or scratch, nor have I caused any damage to stationary objects. Recently, I was presented with an opportunity to lower my insurance premium by $40—a reduction contingent upon installing the Progressive Snapshot app. Given my history of safe driving, I decided to give it a try, assuming it wouldn’t interfere much with my routine.

However, within just one week of using the app, I encountered multiple stressful situations that significantly impacted my driving experience. The app’s sensitivity to driving behaviors prompted me to adjust my driving style—merging into lanes instead of relying on hard braking, to avoid triggering negative scores. Unfortunately, this has led to several near-misses. I’ve found myself merging at very low speeds—sometimes just 5 mph—only to be honked at for going too slow, especially on turns. On three occasions, I’ve almost been rear-ended while making turns, and I’ve had to merge abruptly to prevent point deductions, all while risking safety.

Driving on two-lane highways has become particularly challenging. Conventional advice emphasizes maintaining a steady speed within 5 mph of surrounding traffic to ensure safety. Yet, under the app’s restrictions, I’ve experienced semis overtaking me in the right lane and oncoming vehicles swerving to pass on the right, sometimes 15 mph slower than the flow of traffic. These situations not only cause frustration but also raise serious safety concerns.

In just one week, I feel like I’ve aged years—my stress levels have skyrocketed, and driving has become far more nerve-wracking than it’s ever been before. This experience has made me question whether the benefits of such telematics programs outweigh the unintended negative consequences they can introduce.

Have any other drivers out there faced similar challenges with insurance apps like Snapshot? I’d appreciate hearing your insights and experiences.
