Can I get a rental car under 25?

Can I rent a car if I’m under 25?

I recently had an unfortunate incident where someone crashed into my car and left it completely damaged. Luckily, my insurance policy with Progressive covers rental cars in such situations, which I have. However, since I’m only 19 and typically can’t rent a car, what are my options?

  1. It’s frustrating to be in a situation like this, but you do have a few options. Many rental car companies have a minimum age requirement of 21 to rent a car, and those that do allow rentals for drivers under 25 often impose additional fees.

Since you’re working with your insurance company, it’s worth reaching out to Progressive to see if they can help you with the rental process. They might have partnerships with rental companies that are more lenient with age restrictions. Some companies may require a co-signer or allow you to rent if you meet certain criteria.

Additionally, some local or smaller rental agencies might have more flexible age policies. Be sure to call around and ask about their specific rules.

If all else fails, consider checking into ride-sharing services, public transportation, or borrowing a car from a friend or family member while you sort everything out. Good luck, and I hope you get back on the road soon!
